Statement of Faith

STATEMENT OF FAITH: CHINESE GOSPEL CHURCH OF MICHIGAN

We believe:

  • The One True God, the Creator and Master of heaven and earth and all life therein, is the three-in-one God eternally existent: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is also our heavenly Father.

  • Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Word made flesh, was incarnated by the Holy Spirit through the Virgin Mary. He was born for the redemption of mankind, and to deliver us from the bondage of sin and eternal judgment. He was crucified, died on the cross, buried, resurrected the third day, ascended into heaven, and shall come back again. He is also our Life.

  • The Holy Spirit, along with the holy Father and the holy Son, are to be equally revered and glorified. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter. He came to convict us of our sins and lead us unto salvation. He lives within us, teaches, guides, and intercedes for us. He is the empowerment of God for us to serve God and man.

  • The Holy Bible, both Old and New Testament, are inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. It contains no error. It is the highest and the holy standard for Christian living.

  • Man is created in God's image. All men have become sinners through Adam's fall and need redemption. Those who believe and receive Christ's atonement on the cross are forgiven their sins and are born again by the Holy Spirit. They will then reconcile with God, become the children of God, and become able to start a brand new Spirit-led life.

  • The church is made of born-again believers of Jesus Christ. The church is the body of Christ and is connected to Christ the Head through the Holy Spirit. We worship, fellowship, serve, and evangelize together as one.

  • The water baptism is the symbol of our rebirth. The Holy Communion commemorates Christ's sacrificial love for the pardon of our sins. These rites are to be observed reverently in the church as our open testimonies before God and man.

  • The Lord Jesus Christ shall Himself come back again. All the dead shall arise, and all men shall be judged accordingly. Those who believe in Him shall enjoy eternal life with Him. Those do not believe in Him shall face eternal punishment.
